Terms and conditions
Last updated
The short version
- BobEV is an independent app, not made or endorsed by Renault Group. It relies on Renault's services, which can change or stop working at any time.
- Use it only with your own Renault Group account and cars you own or are allowed to use.
- A confirmed command means Renault accepted it, not that the car did it. Never rely on remote AC to keep a person or animal safe in a car.
- Battery, range and kWh figures can be late or estimated. Check the car for decisions that matter.
- BobEV is free. If we later add a way to support it or paid extras, they're optional, you'll see the price first, and nothing is charged unless you choose to pay.
- Romanian law applies, and you keep all your rights as a consumer.
This summary helps you read the full text below; the full text is what applies.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
BobEV is provided by NICOLAE ELISEI PERSOANĂ FIZICĂ AUTORIZATĂ, Romania (“we”, “us”). These terms and conditions (“Terms”) apply to the BobEV app for iPhone and Android, including its widgets, Lock Screen and Control Center controls and app shortcuts, and to the website https://bobev.app (together, the “Service”).
By downloading, installing or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. The Privacy Policy explains how data is handled and is part of these Terms.
2. BobEV is independent from Renault Group
BobEV is an independent app. It is not made, sponsored, endorsed or supported by Renault Group or any of its brands or companies, including Renault, Dacia, Alpine and Mobilize. Renault, Dacia, Alpine and the model names are trademarks of their owners, used on the Service only to describe which cars BobEV works with.
BobEV works by connecting, from your phone, to the same online services that Renault Group’s own apps use: the Renault Group sign-in service and Renault’s connected-car services. These services are not a public interface offered to us, and we have no agreement with Renault Group about them. Renault Group can change, limit or switch them off at any time and without notice. When that happens, some or all of BobEV may stop working until we can adapt it, or permanently. We can’t promise that the Service will keep working with your car.
3. Your Renault Group account and your car
To use BobEV you need a Renault Group account (the one used by MyRenault, MyDacia or MyAlpine) with a car linked to it and its connected services active. Your account, your car’s connected services and any subscription to them are provided by Renault Group under its own terms and privacy policy, which you remain responsible for following.
By using BobEV you confirm that:
- you are at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live;
- the Renault Group account you sign in with is yours, and you own the cars linked to it or are allowed by their owner to see their data and send them remote commands;
- you keep your phone locked and your account details private. Anyone who can use your unlocked phone can use BobEV, and its widgets and controls can work from the Lock Screen and Control Center.
Features depend on the model, the country, the car’s connected services and its mobile coverage. BobEV shows the features Renault’s services offer for your model, and some cars ignore some commands even when they are accepted.
4. Remote commands: air conditioning and charging
When you use Start AC, Stop AC, Pause charging or Resume charging, in the app, on a widget, from the Lock Screen, from Control Center or from an app shortcut, BobEV sends a request to Renault’s services, which pass it on to your car. Please keep in mind that:
- a confirmation in BobEV means Renault’s services accepted the request, not that the car has carried it out. The car can carry it out late, only partly, or not at all, for example when its battery is below the level it needs, when it has no mobile coverage, or because of its own settings;
- some cars don’t support some commands. For example, a Dacia Spring runs remote air conditioning for a fixed 10 minutes and can’t stop it remotely;
- running the air conditioning or changing how the car charges uses energy and can reduce the range or delay the end of a charge;
- a single tap on a widget or control sends the command, so an accidental tap can start the AC.
Safety. Never rely on BobEV, or on remote air conditioning, to keep a person or an animal safe or comfortable inside a vehicle. Never leave a child, a vulnerable person or an animal alone in a car. Don’t use BobEV while driving. BobEV is not an emergency service.
5. Information shown in the app
The battery level, range, charging status, location, mileage and other car data come from Renault’s services or are calculated by BobEV from them. They can be out of date, incomplete or wrong. Energy figures marked with “≈”, and charge histories that BobEV builds from battery readings, are estimates. Before a decision where accuracy matters, such as whether you have enough range for a trip, check the car’s own display. Don’t use BobEV’s figures for billing or for splitting charging costs.
The map is provided by Apple Maps on iPhone and by Google Maps on Android, and walking directions open in those apps. Their terms apply to that use, including the Google Maps Additional Terms of Service.
6. Using the Service fairly
BobEV is for personal, non-commercial use with your own cars. You agree not to:
- use the Service to access accounts or cars you are not allowed to access;
- send automated or unusually frequent requests to Renault’s services through BobEV. Renault Group may limit or block accounts that do, and we are not responsible for that;
- copy, modify, sell or redistribute the app, or reverse engineer it except as far as the law allows you to;
- interfere with the Service, or use it in a way that breaks the law.
7. Licence and intellectual property
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use BobEV on devices you own or control, under these Terms and the rules of the store you downloaded it from. The Service, including the BobEV name, logo, design, text and software, belongs to us or our licensors, and all rights not given to you in these Terms are reserved.
BobEV includes open-source software under its own licences. You can read them in the app under My car → Legal & privacy → Open-source licenses.
8. Price, support and paid features
BobEV is free to download and use. In the future we may offer optional ways to support the app, such as tips or donations, or optional paid features or subscriptions.
- Payments inside the app go through the App Store or Google Play, under that store’s rules for payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds.
- Wherever you pay, you’ll see the price, and what you get for it, before you pay. You will never be charged unless you choose to pay.
- A tip or donation is voluntary: it supports the app and doesn’t buy features, unless we clearly say otherwise when you pay.
9. Updates and availability
We may update, change, suspend or stop the Service or any feature at any time, for example to keep up with changes to Renault’s services. Some updates may be needed to keep using the app. We don’t promise that the Service will be available at all times, without errors, or on every phone or operating system version.
10. No warranty
As far as the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including that it is error-free, that it works with your car, or that the car will carry out a command.
If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law gives you, including your rights about the conformity of digital content and services under the law of the European Union and of the country where you live. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
11. Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for:
- indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of data or loss of opportunity;
- what Renault’s services or your car do, or don’t do, with a request sent through BobEV, and the energy or battery range used by a command;
- decisions taken on the basis of information shown in the Service that turned out to be inaccurate;
- Renault Group changing, limiting or switching off the services BobEV relies on, or limiting your account.
As far as the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims about the Service is limited to the higher of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, and one hundred euro (€100).
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law that applies.
12. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time: log out in the app (My car → Log out) and uninstall it. We may suspend or end your use of the Service if you seriously or repeatedly break these Terms. The sections on intellectual property, warranty, liability and governing law keep applying after your use ends.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms, for example when the Service or the law changes. We will publish the new version on this page with a new date, and tell you in the app or on the website before important changes take effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply. If you don’t agree with them, stop using the Service.
14. App Store and Google Play
These Terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google. We, not Apple or Google, are responsible for the app and its content, its maintenance and support, and for handling any claims about it, including product liability, legal or regulatory compliance and intellectual property claims.
If you downloaded BobEV from the App Store: Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; where it conflicts with these Terms, these Terms apply as far as Apple’s rules allow.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Romania. If you are a consumer living in another country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of that country, and you can bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.
If something goes wrong, please write to us first at nicolae.elisei1999@gmail.com and we will try to solve it with you. Consumers in Romania can also contact the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC).
