The short version
- BobEV has no server and no account of its own. The app talks to Renault Group's services straight from your phone.
- Your password goes only to Renault. The app keeps a sign-in token in the phone's secure storage.
- Your car's data and your location stay on your phone. We never receive them.
- No analytics, no ads, no tracking, in the app or on this website.
- Log out to remove your sign-in and car data; uninstall to remove everything.
This summary helps you read the full text below; the full text is what applies.
1. Who is responsible
BobEV and this website are provided by NICOLAE ELISEI PERSOANĂ FIZICĂ AUTORIZATĂ, Romania (“we”, “us”), the controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at nicolae.elisei1999@gmail.com.
BobEV is built so that we don’t receive your data. The app runs on your phone and talks directly to Renault Group’s services. There is no BobEV account and no BobEV server. Renault Group is the controller of your Renault Group account and of the data its services hold about you and your car, under its own privacy policy.
2. What the app handles, and where it goes
| Data | Why | Where it goes or stays |
|---|---|---|
| Your email address, password and any verification code Renault emails you | To sign in to your Renault Group account | Sent from your phone to Renault Group’s sign-in service over an encrypted connection. The password is never stored on your phone and never sent to us. |
| A sign-in token and your Renault account identifiers | To keep you signed in | Stored on your phone only, in the iPhone Keychain or Android’s encrypted storage. Removed when you log out. |
| Your car’s data: model, VIN, picture, battery, range, charging, air conditioning status, location, mileage, contracts and warranties | To show your car in the app and the widgets | Fetched from Renault’s services. A copy stays on your phone so the app opens straight away, including in the storage shared with the widgets; the address, phone numbers and emails Renault sends with your car’s details are left out of it. Removed when you log out. |
| Battery readings over time, and how long your car took to send its position the last few times | To draw the battery chart, find charges that Renault doesn’t record, and count down while you wait for your car’s position | Stored on your phone only. Removed when you uninstall the app. |
| Your phone’s location | To show you next to your car and the distance to it | Used on your phone only, while you use the app and only if you allow it. Not stored and not sent to us. |
| Commands you send (AC, charging, asking the car for its GPS position) | To carry out what you asked | Sent from your phone to Renault’s services, which pass them on to your car. |
The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no tracking, and it doesn’t share your data with data brokers.
3. Other companies involved
- Renault Group runs the sign-in and connected-car services BobEV talks to, including the sign-in service provided to it by SAP (Gigya). Its handling of your data is described in the privacy policy of MyRenault, MyDacia or MyAlpine for your country. When you choose to create an account, BobEV opens Renault Group’s sign-up page in your browser.
- Apple provides the map on iPhone, and Google provides the map on Android. To draw it, your phone downloads the map for the area shown, and the map provider may collect usage data under its own policy (Apple Privacy Policy, Google Privacy Policy). When you tap Go to car, your car’s position is passed to Apple Maps or Google Maps for walking directions.
- Apple and Google also process data when you download the app from the App Store or Google Play, and when you rate it there, under their own privacy policies.
These companies may process data outside the European Economic Area, with the safeguards described in their policies.
4. What we receive
We only receive personal data in these cases:
- When you email us. We receive your email address and what you write, and use it to reply to you. We keep the conversation for as long as we need it to help you, and no more than two years after our last message, unless the law requires us to keep it longer. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you, or taking steps you ask for before a contract.
- When you visit this website. The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Our hosting provider processes technical data, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, and keeps these logs for a short time. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
We don’t sell personal data, and we don’t use it for advertising or profiling.
5. Legal basis
- Showing your car and sending your commands is necessary to provide the app you chose to use (Article 6(1)(b) of the General Data Protection Regulation, the GDPR).
- Your phone’s location is used only with your consent, given through your phone’s permission prompt (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time in your phone’s settings; the map then shows only the car.
- Emails and website logs: our legitimate interests described above (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
6. Keeping and deleting your data
Everything BobEV stores is on your phone, so you control it:
- Log out (My car → Log out) to remove the sign-in token, the offline copy of your car’s data and the widget data.
- Uninstall the app to remove everything BobEV stored, including the battery readings.
- To change or delete your Renault Group account or the data Renault Group holds, use MyRenault, MyDacia or MyAlpine, or contact Renault Group.
7. Security
All connections to Renault’s services are encrypted (HTTPS). The sign-in token is kept in the phone’s secure storage, and the app never stores your password. On Android, BobEV’s data is left out of the phone’s backups. Keep your phone locked: the app, its widgets and its controls can be used by anyone who can use your unlocked phone.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights for data we hold, such as an email conversation, write to nicolae.elisei1999@gmail.com. We will answer within one month. For data held by Renault Group, Apple or Google, contact them directly; we are happy to help you find the right place.
You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Romania, the National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing (ANSPDCP), or the authority of the country where you live or work.
9. Children
BobEV is meant for car owners and drivers and is not directed at children. You need to be at least 18 to use it, as the Terms and conditions say.
10. Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this policy before the change, publish the new version on this page with a new date, and tell you in the app or on the website when the change is important.
11. Contact
For any question about privacy, write to nicolae.elisei1999@gmail.com. NICOLAE ELISEI PERSOANĂ FIZICĂ AUTORIZATĂ, Romania.
